Depending upon the location, these shops will be performed over the PHONE, via EMAIL or ON-SITE. The shops pay $8 or $18 (depending upon shop type.) These shops can be performed ANY day or time the business is open.
There are also several different scenarios to this project.
*Aspiring College Student (single, early 20’s, living at home)
*Unemployed (40, married with kids, laid off about 6 months ago)
*Ex-Con (30, married with kids, have spent the last 2 years in jail for a felony/embezzlement, seeking a fresh start)
*Single Parent (28, single with 2 kids, haven’t worked in several years)
*Military (any age, but must be knowledgeable about military terms, housing, and deployment. Must be credible.)
*Immigrant (30, have been in this country for about 5 years)
We need to find out if employees are treating people of different backgrounds differently. (For example, is a business not hiring when an Immigrant calls, but they do have openings when a Military Vet calls? Are things mentioned to a single parent, but not mentioned to an Ex-Con? Does a hotel turn away a young adult but not an older person?)
In most cases, you will be assigned a particular scenario by me. While you may not be an Ex-Con, Unemployed, or a Single Parent, these are easiest to fake. ALL scenarios can be faked via email. Most scenarios are easy to fake over the phone. The on-site visits would present the largest difficulty to fake.
When you apply, please let me know if you are able to perform on-site shops as well as which scenarios you could credibly perform. If you cannot credibly perform any of these scenarios on-site or over the phone, please apply and state EMAIL SHOPS ONLY.
If you are assigned to shop a trade school, college, or university, you will need to check out their online site to see what courses they offer. You can choose any program of study to say that you interests you. You simply need to verify that they offer that program. (Do not say that you are interested in a Nursing Degree if they do not offer that program.)
Phone Shops: These pay $8. These calls will be recorded (unless you live in a state where it is illegal to do so.) If you are sorted into a call center, that is okay. Conduct the shop with whoever helps you.
Email Shops: These pay $8. You will need to upload a copy of the email chain showing incoming and outgoing email for this project. It is recommended that you get a free Gmail account for this project. You might get a lot of SPAM email that would bother your normal email account. Especially do not use any email address that eludes to mystery shopping (ex: OmahaShopper@yahoo.com, etc.)
On-Site Shops: These pay $18. You will need a business card of the person you met with and/or any materials given to you. These will be uploaded into the report form online.
These are easy but detailed shops. The results are very important. The client needs to know if any employees are discriminating against some people or making promises that they cannot keep to others. Your reports are crucial to the client.
You can perform multiple shops, but do not confuse the information between the shops and do not apply for more than you can handle. There is a short time-frame for these shops to be finalized. Do not apply if you will need to cancel or extend.
