Just for the record using an actual turkey baster leads to vaginal infections and can impair fertility. When doing at home AI a fresh sterile specimen cup and fresh sterile syringe should be used each time and discarded after each insemination. Calling it "the turkey baster" method is very degrading. There are many misconceptions about how we same sex couples conceive (hetero couples can easily hide that they used a donor) it's best not to perpetuate the negative stereotypes. Much appreciated in advance for those who refrain from calling AI a turkey baster method or suggesting a turkey baster actually be used.

(Hi, Jiffy;
The 'turkey baster method' is more of a euphemism now. I don't know how many women still actually use it. The syringe and soft-cups are widely used. They are certainly easily and cheaply available. Most recipients and donors certainly know the need for sterile conveyances).
