Then general rule for a time out is one minute per year - so a 2 year old
would get 2 minutes. As for letting them keep what is in their hands, it
would depend. If it is a their 'lovey' or a comforting thing, I would let
them keep it. If it is the stuffed animal they were hitting their sibling
with, I would take it away.
